its wen u lvl up from playing games and getting experience u evevtually get to lvl 55 wen u have unlocked all the guns and percs after completing lvl 55 u have a choice to start at 1 all over again with no weapons or percs or to stay at 55 the only difference is u get a new symbol but if u dont prestige u get really bored so i prestige makes game more long lasting
