I suck at this game but a lot of my friends play it and are good at it. It's sucks to suck at this game as I a) hafta give my controller up to someone waiting every game, and b) it's frustrating not being able to live for over a minute. Related posts:

I totally kick ass at this game And Live is like 3748297582349778943 times better than regular umm well first off if your playing w/ vehicles id recommend getting in a scorpion or wraith and just killing everybody but if you don't have any of those vehicles get a warthog and just start splattering ppl Overall vehicles are theee best way to stay alive
Halo is not a complex game to level up in. I am currently a major grade two and I just got there by playing a lot. I suggest starting by playing a lot of team slayer because your party will help you along the way until you get to about skill 25 or so.
when you reach that you can either get better and try to get a higher skill or switch over to playing lone wolf.
Wolf has definitely helped me out a lot because it is you against 5 other people and you really learn a lot of good playing mechanics and how to fight without having to rely on others.
if you have the new maps you should play SWAT because it will increase your shot accuracy and you will land a lot more of your shots. Another good thing to do to get better is to memorize where all of the good guns and power ups are so that you won't just have to fight with your default guns and armor. Whenever you play any of these game types keep in mind that if you start loosing at something you should either stop playing for awhile or switch over to something that you have low skill in to help get you playing better.
don't switch into and out of playing SWAT a lot because you will get used to playing one type and then you will do worse at SWAT. I don't know of any quick way to level up except by getting skill in different types of ranked games and by getting lots of experience. If you need to get experience you should log on every weekend and go to the double experience weekend stuff to get more experience.
of these do require the new maps so keep in mind that if you are serious at playing halo you should get these maps.
and all, lots of practice is key for getting better and if you really care about playing at the same level as your friends then you should play with them and ask them how they get their rank up and how they got to where they are.
keep in mind that cheating your way up will not help you get any better.
will just get totally owned by other players. If you want to play some time my gamers tag is Bozo Tanada.
