Dual Core or Quad ?? |

I'm getting ready to put a new computer together and I can't decide between an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3 gHz) or an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.53 GHz). I don't do gaming, so the most intense stuff I do is video editing. So would the quad core be an advantage, even though it's a lower clock speed? Related posts:

Many video editing software packages make use of the additional cores in the q6600. So, it will be significantly faster than the e8400 for some video editing tasks. It may be a bit slower for some other tasks, but overall I think you'll come out ahead with the q6600. Go with the quad core.
