I have a PS3 that my wife and I use as the center of our home entertainment center. I use it for video games and we watch tons of blue ray dvds on it. I have read online that it is possible to change the OS on the PS3 to Linux, but I have not read anything about any benefits that can be attained from switching the operating system on the PS3.

anyone tell me if there are any benefits? Would installing an OS such as Linux allow me to install a word processor application? lol, in response to mashyoucameron, we do have 2 pcs, both very nice. I have no desire to type my next term paper on my PS3, I was simply using a word processor application as an example because I can't think of any other application (program/software) that would make installing a new OS on the PS3 beneficial.
